Homemade Pasta Night

Homemade pasta is actually quite simple. Especially if you just ignore the whole let it sit and dry thing. We don't have time for that. (I don't have time for most things really). But I do have time to eat delicious homemade pasta, so here goes:

After playing around with a bunch of different homemade pasta recipes, I landed on Martha Stewarts recipe from her cooking school cookbook.


  • 2 cups all purpose flour

  • 3 large eggs, room temperature

  • pinch of course salt


  • Food Processor: Put flour in bowl of food processor with dough blade, add eggs, and pinch of salt. Blend. You might need to adjust it a couple times in order to get it completely blended.

  • By hand: Mound all the flour in the center of a clean work area or bowl. make a well in the center of the flour. Add lightly beaten eggs with salt into the well. Work the flour into the eggs with a fork, then use your hands the rest of the way. All the flour may not incorporate and that is OK. Knead the dough until a round ball is formed.

  • Cut dough into pasta shape of your choice: If you happen to have a pasta attachment on your stand mixer now is the time to pull it out. If not, you can cut the dough into quarters and roll out each piece as flat as you can. This method is best used for making lasagna noodles (recipe coming soon), or for making long thin noodles perfect for chicken noodle soup (recipe also coming soon).
